The human eye is a beautiful piece of art in terms of both function and form. We communicate through looks. We communicate through eye contact. Artists have been fascinated with the eyes for generations. As we age, changes can occur resulting in our once lively and vibrant eyes appearing tired and fatigued.
Eyelid surgery (or Blepharoplasty) is a procedure that can be done to the upper and lower eyelids to rejuvenate the look of the eyes. Typically, features such as extra skin, bags or bulging or puffy tissue can be treated to reverse many of the signs of cosmetic eye aging.
Eyelid surgery can be performed in Ottawa as part of larger surgeries such as a Facelift however it can also be performed alone under local anesthetic.
What is involved in Eyelid Surgery?
Of all the surgeries performed, eyelid surgery often has the most dramatic effect. People will start to receive compliments on how refreshed they look. Their eyes will be open to the world.
For the upper eyelid, typically a portion of the extra skin is removed with a scar that is well hidden within the eyelid crease.
The lower eyelids often have some associated puffiness. In many cases, the incisions can be made within the eyelids thus no noticeable scar occurs. In fact, there are many types of eyelid surgery and Dr James P. Bonaparte will discuss with you the best options and customize the approach to your needs.
